Gavin Newlands Congratulates Wimbledon Success in Parliament
Gavin Newlands, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has congratulated Andy Murray for winning the Wimbledon title.
Mr Newlands submitted an Early Day Motion to parliament to pay tribute to Andy Murray for securing his second Wimbledon championship. The EDM - which was supported by Former First Minister Alex Salmond – also paid tribute to Jordanne Whiley, Gordon Reid, Alfie Hewitt and Heather Watson for their historic success at Wimbledon.
Mr Newlands serves as the Chair of All Party Parliamentary Group for Scottish Sport.

“Congratulations to Andy Murray, Gordon Reid and the other tennis champions for securing their historic success at the weekend. This is Andy Murray’s second Wimbledon title and his third Grand Slam title, and highlights how much of a great athlete he is.
“It was a fantastic weekend for sport and our tennis superstars have definitely made us all proud. I was delighted to submit the EDM to parliament and the support that it received highlighted the significant amount of pride that exists from Scotland’s parliamentarians.
