Gavin Newlands MP accuses Renfrewshire Labour on wasting money on customer service consultants

Gavin Newlands, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has accused Labour-controlled Renfrewshire Council of wasting public money on commissioning consultants to carry out a survey on people’s experience with the council.

Consultants are currently emailing local residents, offering every participant £20 to take part in a survey on their experience with Renfrewshire Council. This is in response to the collapse of the customer call centre where people are being forced to wait 20 minutes and more to get through to the council.

Gavin Newlands, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said:

“Renfrewshire Labour really have no shame – one minute they’re complaining that they don’t have any money and the next we find out that they wasting money on consultants to seek people’s views on Renfrewshire Council.

“Labour don’t have to waste money paying expensive consultants to engage in this exercise. They could go out and speak to local people and hear first-hand the anger towards this complacent Labour Administration who have squandered millions of public money through their incompetence.

“From wasting money on temporarily closing the amenity sites to splashing public money on redesigning the council offices to now squandering money on consultants – it is clear that Renfrewshire Labour cannot be trusted to deliver for local residents.”
