Gavin Newlands MP welcomes Scottish Veteran Fund award for Erskine
Gavin Newlands, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has welcomed recently announced funding to Erskine to support their work in caring for people with dementia.
In excess of £1 million worth of funding has been awarded towards veterans and ex-services charities across Scotland, with Erskine directly benefitting from this. The milestone comes as a further £315,591 of grant funding has been allocated to 19 projects, including a contribution of over £148,000 from Standard Life.
Erskine has been awarded £30,000 over two years for dementia care nursing.
Gavin Newlands, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, where the charity is based, said:
“Everyone in Renfrewshire is proud of Erskine and the support that they provide to our veterans. We should never forget the contribution that our veterans have made – they are an asset to our society and deserve the best possible care and support.
“That’s why I am delighted that the Scottish Veterans Fund has now provided some £1.1 million to a host of veterans and ex-service charities, including to Erskine based in my constituency.
“These awards will support excellent projects that promote employment, social inclusion, health and wellbeing for veterans and their families.
“The Veterans Fund is making a real difference to the lives of veterans in Scotland and I hope further investment will be attracted to boost the Fund’s capacity for future years.”
