Gavin Newlands reappointed as SNP Westminster Spokesperson for Sport

Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has been reappointed to serve as the SNP Westminster Spokesperson for Sport.

Following Ian Blackford’s election as SNP Westminster Leader, Gavin was asked to continue to serve as the Spokesperson for Sport, ensuring that the interests of Scottish sport are heard at Westminster.

Gavin Newlands previously served in this position during the last Parliament.

Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said:

“I am delighted to have been reappointed as the SNP Westminster’s Spokesperson for Sport.

“Those that know me will be aware that sport has always played a big part in my life. I am passionate about the benefits that sport can have on an individual’s life, helping to not only improve a person’s physical health but their mental health as well.

“In the last Parliament, I championed the interests of Scottish sport at Westminster, including playing a leading role in Scottish tennis being awarded additional funding to help support the growth of the game in Scotland.

“I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that this Parliament will bring about and will continue to work hard to ensure that the interests of Scottish sport are heard in Westminster.”
