Gavin Newlands MP re-elected to lead all-party group at Westminster

Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has been re-elected as the Chair of an all-party group at Westminster which champions the interest of Scottish Sport in the UK Parliament.

Mr Newlands previously led the all-party group in the last parliament, when the group worked to encourage the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to increase their levels of support for tennis in Scotland.

Mr Newlands also serves as the SNP Westminster Spokesperson for Sport.

Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said:

“I am delighted to have been re-elected by my peers to serve as the Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Scottish Sport.

“I am proud of the work done in the last Parliament, particularly around our investigation into the support that the LTA provides to promote tennis in Scotland.

“There is a lot of good work happening with Scottish sport at the moment and I look forward to playing my part in championing that work in the UK Parliament. However, a number of challenges still exist and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues from across all the political parties to find solutions to them and to champion the interests of Scottish sport in Westminster.”
