Gavin Newlands attends Paisley CND stall

Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, popped down to Paisley town centre to show his continued support for the unilateral disbarment of nuclear weapons across the world.

Local activists from Scottish CND organised a street stall in Paisley to speak to shoppers about the upcoming international day of action against nuclear weapons.

The Nae Nukes Anywhere March and Rally which will take place on the 22nd of September at Faslane, coinciding with campaigns taking place throughout the world.

Gavin Newlands, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said:

“A clear majority of Scottish society is firmly against nuclear weapons being based in Scotland. However, our voice is ignored as the Tories, propped up by sections of the Labour Party, impose nuclear weapons on Scotland against our wishes.

“However, banning them from Scottish shores is not enough. I want to see a world free of these weapons of mass destruction. They serve no purpose other than to decimate human life and they should be consigned to the history books.

“The Nae Nukes Anywhere March and Rally is a day of action which is taking place internationally. Campaigners from across the globe will march on this day to show the opposition to these expensive, outdated and immoral weapons.”
